On April 11, the Galveston chapter of Kiwanis International hosted its annual golf tournament fundraiser at the Galveston Country Club, featuring over 60 golfers.

The event raised $19,000, which will go directly to supporting over 30 nonprofit organizations, including the Ball High Key Club, Texas A&M at Galveston Circle K Club, GISD Educational Foundation, Texas A&M at Galveston Sea Camp, Resources and Crisis Center, GISD Teen Health Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, scholarships for Ball High and O’Connell seniors and many more.

It was a great show of support for one of Galveston’s largest service organizations.

Teams included golfers from Stewart Title, HomeTown Bank, Tax Resource Group, Moody Bank, Dienst Distributing, Texas First Bank, Network Funding Group, 3Coast Resources, the Galveston Chamber of Commerce C-Crewe and Merrill Lynch.

The 18-hole Florida scramble tournament was followed by dinner and a raffle for a variety of prizes donated by sponsors.

Highlights of the event included a hole-in-one by Doug Rogers, a second-generation Kiwanian and employee of the Sealy Smith Foundation on Hole 8, which was sponsored by Classic Auto Group of Galveston.

Thank you to all who made the tournament possible so we can continue to help those in need from Galveston and beyond.
