The City Council in League City voted 6-2 on Tuesday night in support of a resolution that would prohibit city departments from cooperating with federal directives or requests to process or house undocumented immigrants.

There was quite a contrast of ideologies from the League City area in the July 8 issue of The Daily News.

On the first page there was a follow-up story regarding a resolution by the League City City Council. One of the members wanted to “send a message” to the state and federal authorities regarding any assistance to undocumented immigrants (“Immigration resolution headed to council vote,” Daily News, July 8). That is, they would be prohibited.

On the same front page, Unity Church of the Bay Area-Houston in League City was to be the location of a lecture by someone who is associated with several charitable projects that benefit individuals with needs for housing and medical attention (“Unity Church to hold talk with high lama,” Daily News, July 8).

What a great contrast!
