In July, the Galveston Park Board of Trustees dipped into reserve funds because of the work being done to clean seaweed from the beaches.

Every day at 5 a.m. I drive to work from the West End of the island (Sea Isle) and I notice the equipment crews working diligently on the east side of the 61st Street pier. They’re doing an excellent job.

I’m curious and wonder why nothing is being done to the west side of the pier. The seaweed is thick on that side, and I’ve never seen any equipment crews there. At one point, the seaweed was all the way out to the end of the jetty.

I know that there is plenty of beach there. I’ve spent a lot of time on that side.

Do you know anyone who lives on the west side of 61st st. With a street named after them.?

Seems like I read that it wasn't possible to get the equipment onto the beach west of the pier. But then I noticed that at least some cleanup had been done, though not as much as on the east side.
