Lemonade Day Galveston, an effort by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce to help students learn entrepreneurial skills, will be May 4. Information is available at www.Galveston.LemonadeDay.org.

My name is Christian Sumlin and I represent the Gifted and Talented Program at Ambassadors Preparatory Academy. Lemonade Day inspired the GT students at Ambassadors to build a greenhouse and grow lemons to cut out the middleman.

We visited Aquaponics greenhouse in Galveston and established a partnership with the Junior Master Gardener Program in Galveston where Master Gardener Barbara White assisted with learning the concepts of gardening. The Lemonade Day program, supported by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, teaches lifelong skills needed to be successful.

It has had a significant impact on the curriculum at Ambassadors as it relates to using creative activities for teaching and learning.
