Daughters of the American Revolution, Sam Houston chapter, will welcome new members at a new member tea at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 23.

To become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a genealogical search is required to follow a woman’s roots back to an ancestor who had some role in the American Revolution. The new member tea is an annual event, which serves as an orientation for new members. They learn about the various philanthropic projects the chapter supports and meet the chapter officers.

A luncheon will follow the program. All meetings are open to the public. This is an excellent meeting for women interested in researching their ancestry back to the American Revolution. The meeting is held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Wolston Hall, 4613 Highway 3, in Dickinson.
