In response to the letter by Toyya Braskey ("Broadway is a hot mess," The Daily News, Feb. 2): I totally agree. It is obvious to locals and visitors alike that there has been a lack of proper planning with signage for traffic and new construction on the main street entering Galveston Island.
Broadway is the first impression most people see — and it is a sad one.
The city has done recent improvements on the seawall, which is a step in the right direction, but it seems they need to see Galveston as visitors do. How about getting rid of all the abandoned properties on the island and use the tax income from that for improvements?
