I found the story on the Galveston Police Department (“How many police officers does the island need?” June 29, The Daily News) very interesting and informative.

Henry Porretto could use the additional resources. But this letter is about another law enforcement officer in our community.

Our neighborhood was having a rash of automobile break-ins.

Galveston Police Department increased patrols in our area and then, unannounced, we started to see Constable Clint Wayne Brown and his patrol car in our neighborhood.

He wasn’t asked to do this, he just did so.

To his credit, Brown is about service.

When he is not carrying out his normal duties for Justice of the Peace Jim Schweitzer, he is out helping the people in our community.

Kudos and hats off for this peace officer who cares and who goes the extra mile for us.
