The press and media are saying that there were no red flags associated with Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas shooter. I guess it is normal for a person to purchase 33 assault type rifles in a year.

If this is not a bright red flag I don't know what is?

If this had been a person named Abdulla or Mustafa, or a person of darker complexion buying five guns would have been a red flag.

I know gun collectors who have bought that many guns. Some are bought to keep, some as an investment for future sale. That in itself is not a red flag. When a good deal on a profitable gun comes along they go for it. My brother in law was such a man before he died from medical complications. A pharmacist by trade he bought and sold many firearms. When he died my sister kept one for herself and each of their four children also kept a few. The rest she sold and made a great deal of money.

Would you have a problem requiring people to have a dealer's or collector's license for large purchases like that? If so, why?

If the murderous coward had used his privately owned airplane as a weapon would you be saying that his purchase of a private plane was a red flag? When the jihadist attacker used his car and knife to attack others at The Ohio State University was his purchase of a car or a knife a red flag? When Timothy McVeigh rented the Ryder truck used to carry the bomb to the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was that rental a red flag? Making the tool be the "red flag" instead of the behavior means that you will forever miss the opportunity to intervene before an attack.

That's some strawman you have erected Charles. While everything you listed are commonplace occurrences, buying 33 guns over a relatively short period of time is not a common thing unless you are a gun dealer. Common sense dictates that you should need a license to make those kinds of purchases so that law enforcement is aware of you.

What is it about guns that makes some people lose all grasp of common sense? Why would buying 33 guns be a red flag for Las Vegas? A red flag of what? A 33-armed mass murder? Last time I checked, at most somebody can only shoot two guns at the same time and nobody can do so accurately at any distance other than point blank. One gun is all this guy needed. Maybe two or perhaps three at the most if he was really worried about a failure. If he’s switching guns, he isn’t firing, and you can reload a lot faster than you can switch guns. Nice touch dropping the race card too. Really strengthens your argument. /sarc

Yet again you show your ignorance of guns and what happens to them when you rapidly fire hundreds of rounds through them.

==> "and you can reload a lot faster than you can switch guns."

And yet again.

It is amazing how many of the progressive leftists continue to write about things that they know nothing about.... Where in our Constitution does it say how many guns we are allowed to buy? The leftists media and their sheeple are so amazing in their hatred of our nation and what we were founded on.....

Where in the Constitution does it say drugs are illegal?
