The Galveston Project for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth, called Discovery Club, is a program that provides services to children that do not have a fixed, permanent residence.

The students in the Galveston Independent School District are assisted with items needed to provide them equal access — uniforms, lunchs, school supplies and other services — throughout the year.

Our annual Adopt-A-Child for Christmas Project — Kelley’s Angels — is underway. We have about 800 identified students. We have targeted students for our project from each campus with the assistance of the principals and counselors. Each year, the Discovery Club will host a Christmas celebration for the students during which they can receive Christmas gifts from individuals or businesses who have adopted them. Your generosity in the past has meant a lot to the students.

If you are interested in participating, contact me at or 409-766-5177 or Rosalind Johnson, case manager, or 409-766-5169.

Thank you for all your support for the students in the Galveston Independent School District.
