Daily News readers sound off about the May election.

When it comes to transparency, accountability and a true commitment to serving their community, James “Watchdog” Osteen sets the standard and deserves our continued support.

Take a few minutes either attending a La Marque City Council meeting or view it online and witness Osteen’s economical and financial commitment to our city put into action.

James Osteen has been a part of a city council that helped the city accomplish many goals. In 2011, the city only had $672,558 in their cash and investments; today, it has $3,851,506, which represents an increase of $3.2 million. In 2012, the city only had 46 days of working capital, and now they have 183 days.

Last month, Osteen supported city council approving $356,000 in new police vehicles and equipment along with $200,000 in police radios in order for our officers to better serve the safety needs of our community.

We need a candidate with a proven track record and the experience necessary to represent all of the citizens of La Marque, not just their own district. I’m asking other citizens of District B to get out and vote for Osteen. Early voting is from today through May 5, and election day is May 10.
