Trump is always lying and the fake news is coming from the White House. Trump thinks he is right and everyone else is wrong.

Wow, Joyce, toss out an accusation like that with no examples. You are incredible! (as in NOT credible!)

Mark Aaron

Seriously Carlos? There are examples nearly every day for the past year of Trump's craven lies. How in the world can you pretend otherwise?

Charles Olsen

I agree with you Joyce, if Trumps lips are moving, he's lying.

Carlos Ponce

Again, another persons with no examples, no proof. What's the matter, all rhetoric, NO substance?????

Mark Aaron

You must keep gallons of that Kool-aid on hand to make such a ridiculous suggestion, Carlos. You want examples? Try this: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/06/23/opinion/trumps-lies.html?mcubz=0

Carlos Ponce

“I wasn't a fan of Iraq. I didn't want to go into Iraq.” That's true.
“A reporter for Time magazine — and I have been on their cover 14 or 15 times. I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time magazine.” Only 11 at the time of printing. Time has offered more Trump covers since. And he knew about them in advance. Some good, most not. Wait until his second term is up then count.
“Between 3 million and 5 million illegal votes caused me to lose the popular vote.” The Commission will discover how many were cast, if all the states let them. Lie? Not while the jury is out!
The rest are pure GARBAGE. Each has a biased fallacy.

Carlos Ponce

You must LOVE Liberal kool aid! New York Times = FAKE NEWS. Only an idiot would take their word without verification. And that web site is full of junk.

"You must LOVE Liberal kool aid! New York Times = FAKE NEWS. Only an idiot would take their word without verification. And that web site is full of junk."

Poor Carlos, you really do have it bad, don't you? I guess if you get all of your "news" from rightwing propaganda sites you would be tempted to believe as you claim. If you only realized how absurd you appear to normal, non-duped, people. So sad.

Mike Trube

If you and others truly care about the truth, go to YouTube and watch videos of former presidents making the same promises Trump did on the campaign trail. The difference? Trump is making great efforts to keep his, and in certain cases, he has succeeded. If you would seek out truthful news sources, you would see it's the media lying, not Trump. We endured 8 long years of Obama. But you did not see the childish behavior from the voters whose candidate lost. It's time to grow up and stop acting like whiney babies. It's letters or articles like this one that keeps the strife stirred up in this country. Just my opinion of course.

Another Kool-Aid aficionado. No president in history, nor all of them combined, comes close to lying as much or as shamelessly as Trump. It isn't even close.Just google "Trump Lies."

Carlos Ponce

Do a web search on Obama Lies, Clinton Lies.
"I did NOT have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky." [rolleyes]

Again, all of the former presidents combined don't hold a candle to the massive number of lies told by Trump. If you can't recognize that glaring fact then you are beyond redemption.

Mr. Trump made a show of raising what he said was $6 million for veterans groups, including a $1 million donation from himself, at an Iowa campaign event in January. Four months later, Post reporters tried to determine if Mr. Trump, who often exploits his support for veterans to get the rhetorical upper hand on interviewers and opponents, really raised as much as he claimed, how much had been distributed, and to whom.
Corey Lewandowski, Mr. Trump’s campaign manager, said last week that Mr. Trump had raised only $4.5 million, not the $6 million the candidate boasted about, because some donors — Mr. Lewandowski did not say who — failed to follow through on their pledges. Then, in a Post interview Tuesday, Mr. Trump said that the number is $5.5 million and that all the pledges had come in. Why the shifting stories? Almost certainly because Mr. Trump had not given the $1 million of his own money he promised

Mr. Trump’s campaign said last week that he had already handed out the $1 million he pledged. This was lie No. 1. After Post reporters began publicly asking veterans groups if any of them got money from Mr. Trump, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation received a phone call Monday from Mr. Trump, promising his $1 million to the group. Mr. Trump blamed the delay on needing to vet charities. That was likely lie No. 2: Though other people’s donations began flowing to various charities well before now, his came only after Post reporters pressed the matter. Topping it off was lie No. 3: He said he never claimed that he raised $6 million, despite video proof.

Jim Forsythe

Sometimes, Trump can’t even keep his untruths straight. After he reversed a campaign pledge and declined to label China a currency manipulator, he kept changing his description of when China had stopped the bad behavior. Initially, he said it stopped once he took office. He then changed the turning point to the election, then to since he started talking about it, and then to some uncertain point in the distant past.
When Trump said China stopped manipulating its currency
April 21
“from the time I took office
April 29
“during the election
April 30
“as soon as I got elected”
May 1
“since I started running
MAY 4
“since I’ve been talking about
currency manipulation”

Steve Fouga

I agree with Carlos that it's better to support a statement about Trump lies with examples.

I agree with Joyce, Mark, Jim, et al that there are many.

Mark Aaron

"I agree with Carlos that it's better to support a statement about Trump lies with examples."

Normally that would be correct, Steve, you should always back up claims with credible sources affirming those claims. Unless, that is, the claims are so well known and accepted that it is unnecessary. Such is the case regarding Trump's endless lies. Only the most profoundly duped would try to claim otherwise about Trump.

During a February 2016 campaign stop in South Carolina, Mr. Trump claimed that Pershing captured “50 terrorists” and shot all but one with bullets smeared in pig’s blood.
“This is a repeated myth that has no basis in truth,” said James R. Arnold, the author of “Moro War: How America Battled a Muslim Insurgency in the Philippine Jungle, 1902-1913.”
Mr. Arnold’s view was echoed by eight other historians who were interviewed  when Mr. Trump made his original claim.
Further dispelling this event and the suggestion that it was highly effective and ushered in an enduring peace is its dubious timeline. Most versions of the tale say the episode occurred around 1911, but the Moro Rebellion officially lasted another two years. After 1913, Americans back home lost interest and United States troops withdrew.

Carlos Ponce

It's just another urban myth meant to convey a message like George Washington chopping down the cherry tree.
"Though there is no evidence of anyone shooting anyone with bullets dipped in pig’s blood, according to Pershing's memoirs, he did know about a tactic some American soldiers employed of occasionally burying Moro fighters with pig carcasses—a tactic the mostly Christian invaders thought might scare them into submission. But there is no evidence it worked. Instead, it was Pershing’s slaughter of civilians and fighters at Bud Bagsak that all but ended the Moro Rebellion, ensuring the southern islands would be incorporated into the Philippines and the first major territory in what would become America’s global empire."

As you see over the years the story distorted to what Trump tweeted.
Are you going after Jesus next for his parables? They also point to a "message".

Jim Forsythe

Parables are one thing , but he tells it as the truth , as he is such a student of History.

 The tweet
Donald J. Trump‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump Aug 17
Study what General Pershing of the United States did to terrorists when caught. There was no more Radical Islamic Terror for 35 years!

The truth ha passed on.
It seemed to be a reference to a story Trump told at campaign rallies during the 2016 primaries, which in turn was a garbled version of an Islamophobic meme that has made its way around the internet for years. In the fable, the legendary U.S. General John J. Pershing once ended a wave of Muslim terrorism in the Philippines by executing prisoners with bullets dipped in pigs’ blood. Other superstitious fighters were so terrified by the prospect of being killed while touching part of a forbidden animal, the story goes, that fighting immediately stopped, for some period of time. (For 25 years, Trump said at a North Charleston, South Carolina, rally in February 2016; a few weeks later, in Costa Mesa, California, it had jumped up to 42.)

But as I point out, it's a distortion of what what really happened. American soldiers would bury the Moro fighters who were Muslim with pig carcasses. Not exactly the same but the idea got across. This is found in Pershing's memoirs.

Jim Forsythe

Tell it to Trump.

Carlos Ponce

Like a good story teller he keeps things interesting.[beam]
Abraham Lincoln was also a good story teller.

Jim Forsythe

Donald Trump, and Abraham Lincoln, when one is talking about being honest, will not be confused.
When Abe told a story, he knew it was a story.

Carlos Ponce

And so should you. The Leftist media jumped all over Trump when he said Russia's expulsion of Americans would save money. He had to explain in a news conference that was just a joke. DUH!!!!! Anyone with common sense knew that but NOT the Leftist media.

Mark Aaron

"But as I point out, it's a distortion of what what really happened."

In other words: a lie. Why is that so difficult for you to admit? Who duped you into believing such a claim was in Pershing's memoirs?

From Snopes: FALSE

We found no references to this alleged incident in Pershing biographies, however, nor does it match the way Pershing is generally recorded as having dealt with the Moros in 1911.

http://www.snopes.com/rumors/pershing.asp

Jim Forsythe

The difference here is that Trump is a major party standard-bearer, and so has a great deal more power to normalize the unacceptable. What he says matters a lot — even when he’s "joking."   Not just for  his party , but now that he is President , all.
His joking could land us in WW111.

I'm sure that, Stephen Colbert and Saturday Night Live are happy with his jokes.

Russia making fun of us.
"If the US president decided to come up with a joke instead of seriously talking about real and very difficult problems in Russia-US relations, we are ready to respond in the same spirit. Our answer might roughly be: 'If we knew in advance that the US was mostly concerned with the cost-cutting for diplomatic staff, then would certainly help,'" Klintsevich said.
"So how many more diplomats should we send from Russia, Mr. Trump, that the US budget finally sighed with relief. Please, tell us the exact figure," Klintsevich said.

Words matter.
President Donald Trump, according to his White House spokeswoman, was joking on Friday when he told police officers to be "rough" with suspects, comments that were rebuked by police departments across the country.
"I believe he was making a joke at the time," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters when asked if Trump had a response to the critiques.
A tweet by Ben Tobias, spokesman for the Gainesville, Florida, police department, responding to Trump went viral.
"I'm a cop. I do not agree with or condone @POTUS remarks today on police brutality," he wrote. "Those that applauded and cheered should be ashamed."

Can we trust it be real, or just a joke?
: “When should Americans trust the president? Should they trust the president? Is it phony or real when he says that [he] was wiretapped?”
Spicer focused on only the last question about Trump’s March 4 tweets accusing Obama of wiretapping him in a “Nixon/Watergate” scheme — which the White House has been unable to prove with any evidence — by conceding, for the first time, that the president hadn’t meant his words to be entirely taken literally.
“He doesn’t really think that President Obama went up and tapped his phone personally,” Spicer said.
“The bottom line is—the question that you still have not answered is—can you say affirmatively that whenever the president says something, we can trust it be real?”

Will Robert Mueller find it funny?
Trump’s humor apparently extended to telling then-FBI Director James Comey to stop investigating fired National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Comey testified to Congress under oath that the president told him: “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He’s a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), a member of the House Oversight Committee, tried to excuse what looks very much like obstruction of justice by claiming that Trump was just kidding

Did Nikki Haley find it funny?
Trump also hides behind the cloak of humor when demeaning those around him. At a lunch with the Security Council, Trump solicited views of his U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley: “Does everybody like Nikki? Otherwise she can easily be replaced.” Ha ha, from a man notorious for actually firing aides right and left.

This “kidding/not kidding” routine is a way for Trump to preserve a shred of plausible deniability and for his spokesmen to walk away from his crazier comments. But if you think Trump isn’t being serious, the joke’s on you. Trump would actually be a little easier to take if he had a modicum of wit. But he doesn’t. He’s about as funny as that notorious cutup Calvin Coolidge also know as “Silent Cal,”

.

Mark Aaron

"It's just another urban myth meant to convey a message like George Washington chopping down the cherry tree."

Only school children believe Washington chopped down a cherry tree and then admitted to it. Calling a blatant and hurtful lie an "urban myth" does not alter the fact that it is still a craven lie. Why are you so invested in humiliating yourself by protecting a known liar? The entire world knows Trump constantly lies and constantly gets called out on it. Pretending otherwise only hurts you.

Mark Aaron

"Mr. Arnold’s view was echoed by eight other historians who were interviewed"

Sadly, Carlos and his ideological brethren don't have much use for experts, or academics in general. They are too upsetting for their profound state of denial to deal with. So sad. Here's hoping they get better one day.

Carlos Ponce

'Sadly, Carlos and his ideological brethren don't have much use for experts, or academics in general."
Really ????? My Texas certification as a history and math teacher shows that's not so.

You better hope the authorities don't find out, Carlos.

She should be encouraged to do so.
She does not have to back up an opinion.

After googling 'Trump lies' I found a list of statements followed by rejoinders.
The basic premise of the comebacks and 'proof' of 'lies' amounted to "Trump said he had 10 dollars, but he only had 9 dollars....he's a liar".
Funny stuff.
Some of the proof of lies were really worthy of consideration, buy a 3rd grader.

Poor Carlos, fooled again. President Obama was tired and made a simple flub, which he admitted to and corrected at the next stop of his campaign. Trump constantly tells bald faced lies and when he is repeatedly called out on it eventually claims that either someone else told him it was so, or that he was just joking.

Gary Scoggin

The President's purported lies don't bother me. What scares me is when he's telling the truth.

George Croix

Were you scared about 'the video'
Or 'let me be clear'
Or won't cost a single extra dime to insure another 30 million people
Or not one person making under 250,000 will be taxed
Or you can keep your doctor
Or you'll save an average of 2500 bucks
Or your deductibles will not go up
Or there's not a smidgen of ciorruption at the IRS
Or the Csambridge police acted stupidly
Or we don't know the motive yet after BLM supporter assassinates Policeman
Or workplace violence
Or overseas contingency operation
Or the ISIS JV
Or bowing to the Saudi king
Or claiming 'found out about it on the news'
Or executive orders aiding illegal aliens after multiple claims of no such authority
Or Keystone would only create a few good jobs
Or that cars can now go double the distance on increased gas mileage standards
Or when Obama made fun of Ronbey for saying Russia was our biggest threat
Or that the national debt has increased because of George Bush
Or that Fast and Furious began under Bush
Or that before his Presidency American manufacuring created no jobs since 1990
Or that we've double the nations exports under my Administration
Or ETC
Just a few quick selections out of a few hundred that Politifact, that notoriously conservative entity, documents.....

ALL Presidents say stuff that, when it's not an outright lie, can be taken for one, or twisted into one, or spun into one, by anyone who wants to.
Trying to pretend one is much worse than another in that regard pretty much takes the prtender to that same level...
imo

So far, Pres. Trumps lies haven't resulted in any dead Americans or any Police being assassinated or any terrorists being softballed....
But there's also another 3 plus years to go.....

George Croix

"Black Lives Matter and other groups opposing extremism will be making their way to the Common -- the nation’s oldest city park, which has been the site of rallies and protests for hundreds of years."

Well, this from an article describing another 'free speach' rally being held in Boston by pretty much the same folks who were at the epicenter of Charlottsville.
The report decries the gathering by those extremists.
But, then look what it says in the above quote":
It says BLM is opposed to extremism....
Stunnung...
Who new that calling for dead cops, and getting them, was not extreme...or that instigating riots and looting and property destruction was not extreme.
Who new?
Take a guess.....some of the same folks who like to cherrypick definitions also want to do the same for history....

'Opposed to extremism'.
Absolutely freakin' bat wing nuts.....

Jim Forsythe

Setting ground rules, at events that are planed , befits  all.

"Security was tight, with fences and lines of police officers separating rally-goers and counter protesters. An FBI spokesman told CBS Boston the bureau would stand ready “should [law enforcement] request assistance or resources to address criminal activity or threats to national security.”
In setting ground rules for the event, the Boston Police Department banned weapons of any kind at the gathering, including shields, open flames, firearms, knives, fireworks and flagpoles. Those bringing backpacks or large bags were subject to search, the department said in a statement released before the event. Vendors in the area were also asked to remain closed Saturday.

George Croix

Can't argue with ground rules.
Works even better when anybody pays attention to them....[wink]

All they ALL really want anyway is some media time.....
Except for the ones wanting to get back on a bus and be out of town asap...they want their paycheck, too.....[rolleyes]

What if they gave a protest, and nobody came...(yes, shameless theft of old movie title.....)?
Best solution yet.....

Jim Forsythe

If other city's, would follow Boston blue print on how to make sure that one can protest , and still keep the people safe.

In the end, the free speech rally itself appeared to fizzle from lack of attendance, either because supporters decided to stay away or were unable to make their way through the massive numbers of counter protesters
By noon, Boston police said at least 15,000 counter protesters were peacefully marching toward the park where the rally area was blocked off by a ring of metal barriers. Thousands more descended on the area  the next hour
At 1:30 p.m., about 90 minutes after the rally had been set to begin, the Boston Police Department tweeted that the "Free Speech" rally was "officially over" and the demonstrators had left the Common.

George Croix

Stunnung is the dizzy-from-shaking-head version of stunning...

Close enough...

George Croix

Disappointing attendance and lack of something for the media to blow up into a frenzy could really give 'protesting' a bad name.
Hard to support victimism of any type without contrived and sustained controversy.....
Well, there's always next time....

Joyce Nielsen

As far as examples of Trump lies it would have taken many many times more than the 200 word limit. By the way I watched a portion of his "campaign" speech Tuesday and after 6 lies I turned it off.

Carlos Ponce

Here's your chance, Joyce. No word limits on forums..
Tell us at least ONE lie he told Tuesday.

George Crater

Seems that the only thing democraps can offer is blatant and false accusations.
Lost the election: check
Lost the Russia collusion: check
Lost Senate, house, and the main seat: check

All they can do now is keep making false idiotic claims and see how far they can run with it until its either knocked down or simply too moronic to be believable. The REAL world knows exactly whats going on, the REAL world voted for Trump, the REAL world is looking bright for us, but looking bad for demodummies because soon you will be losing even MORE seats. You can go cry now, I know reality isn't something you can comprehend, but try.

Gary Scoggin

Thanks for that mature, sophisticated analysis.

Carlos Ponce

Now they're taking out the old "he's not mentally stable" routine.
It was tried on Reagan - FAILED.
It was tried on Bush (both of them) -FAILED.
It was tried on Trump previously. It never caught on except for the anti-Trumps which include some who are labeled "Republican". Now they're trying it again? STUPID!

George Croix

There's probably a really good reason that the request to name just one of the 6 lies pre-channel change Tuesday has not emrged.
I bet it's concentrating on storm preparation.......[wink]
Lot of company...got a lot of company in that....and storm preparation
