Texas City’s free public Wi-Fi hot spots are up and running at seven places, most of which are outdoor parks.

In Texas City we now have a free Wi-Fi system in various locations that cost about $200,000 and has monthly cost estimates of around $225. We have a skateboard park that cost thousands of dollars to erect and several hundred dollars more per month to police. We have about 50 soccer fields, many of which are used infrequently, if at all, the water park and the natatorium. These are all great facilities.

In 2012, Mayor Matt Doyle told Texas City dog lovers they would have a dog park by the end of that year. Where is it? Two thousand-plus taxpaying citizens in Texas City signed an appeal for a dog park some time ago. When will it be built?
