Galvestonians have the opportunity to have fun and give back to their community this weekend in an event that will benefit several local charities.
After a successful night in the Fall, the Galveston chapters of Kiwanis and the Elks Lodge are teaming up again Saturday for the Kiwanis-Elks Lodge Bingo Night.
That first event last October raised about $3,000, with the Kiwanis chapter donating funds to the Ronald McDonald House, The Salvation Army and Teen Health Clinic.
The event will take place at the Elks Lodge, 1518 23rd St., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the first game at 6 p.m. There will be 10 games, and total prize money will amount to $1,500 more than the course of the night’s proceedings.
All proceeds will go toward local charities. The Galveston chapter of Kiwanis gives to more than two dozen nonprofit organizations every year, including scholarships for local high school graduates, the Universal Access program at Galveston College, Lighthouse Charities, the GISD Educational Foundation, the UNICEF Eliminate project and many more.
The Elks Lodge gives toward educational scholarships, veterans and kids summer camp programs.
Dinner is available with the purchase of advance tickets.
