Lemonade Day is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business — a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day Galveston is May 4.

My name is Marie Louise Livanec. I am 12 years old and I go to Trinity Episcopal School. This is my second year participating in Lemonade Day.

Last year, my brother and I donated half of what we earned to St. Vincent’s Health Clinic. It was a good feeling giving back to the community.

One of the most important lessons I learned businesswise was how to figure out how much the supplies would cost and how much we would need to make a profit.

Another lesson I learned was how important Lemonade Day was to the community.

Last year, as my dad and I helped some of the other children build lemonade stands, and it was cool to see how their confidence grew as they worked on them.

Lemonade Day will really help me, and I’m sure other children, as we get older and start our own businesses.

Please come out to the Rotary Club’s Crawfish Boil on April 13. My brother and I will be there in our booth. Thank you.
