The City Council in League City voted 6-2 in support of a resolution that would prohibit city departments from cooperating with federal directives or requests to process or house undocumented immigrants.
In response to Jane Schaper’s question as to how a parent can send a child away (“How can a parent send their children away,” Daily News, July 11), let me suggest we recall the stories of British parents in World War II who placed children on trains, consigning them to the care of strangers to get them away from the blitz or Jewish parents in Nazi Germany who did what they could to get their children to safety.
Then there was that woman living in ancient Egypt who placed her 3-month-old son in a basket on a river.
Perhaps the potent forces of love and fear are at work.
