If you look at Laura Addison’s background and goals, it is exactly what Galveston ISD needs at this very moment. With all the challenges that GISD will be facing within the upcoming years, specifically academics, demographics and finance, Addison’s expertise in accounting and as an active member of the GISD community for many years can bring a fresh perspective to the board.

Research overwhelmingly shows that money matters. In other words, there is a direct relationship between school funds and academic performance. Laura Addison understands this reality and wants to promote fiscally responsible practice at GISD to support teachers and students. She is a committed parent of children who have attended GISD schools their entire lives.

Laura Addison also is a product of the GISD school system herself. She didn’t have to participate in this election but decided to do so based on her tremendous conviction to serve. As a parent of two GISD students, I admire Laura Addison’s ability to listen, learn, adapt and apply strategies to help others. I am convinced that she would be a remarkable addition to the GISD board and educational community in general.
