Recently, NFL players began using their platform to highlight the injustices blacks are subjected to by officers who dishonor their pledge and badge. Some object to the athletes kneeling during the national anthem. I counter with they are embracing their constitutional right to peacefully protest.
Many say they should use an alternative platform to get their message out. I say "by whatever means necessary" as long as it is peaceful and does not cause physical harm.
Many of our laws are written for the majority. Once a minority begins using the benefit of that law, many in the majority shout "foul play." If many African-Americans began purchasing semi-automatic weapons, there would be a sudden call for stricter gun laws, which should happen anyway.
White supremacists have infiltrated our law enforcement community, if only to enforce their racist ideology. I sincerely support our men in blue and pray for their safe return home to their families at the end of their shift.
Too many of our black citizens are not being allowed that same privilege. Until then, NFL players and anyone else should "take a knee."
