Jeannie Janota, you need to read my comments again ("'Taking a knee' has nothing to do with military," The Daily News, Nov. 19). Why are you playing the race card? I did not say anything about race. Before the NFL declined to show players kneeling during the national anthem I observed people of all “color” kneeling. If you were watching the Houston Texans about a month ago you would have noticed all the players and coaches “taking a knee.”

You mentioned the dastardly attack against a black person in East Texas. No one condones these actions. You failed to finish your statement that the people responsible for that reprehensible act did receive justice, two with the death penalty and two with life sentences. You make statements like that, without explanation, to give the impression that justice was not done. Our country is not perfect, but people like you playing the race card when it is not necessary only make it worse.

I don’t care what color you are, kneeling or any other act of disrespect during the national anthem is an act people of good “conscience” would not do.

P.S. I mentioned the military because of the freedoms we have. In case you haven’t noticed, the military is made up of all “colors.”

The military is all colors and all genders. The race card is used by racists because they have nothing else. Liberals call every one not agreeing with them "racists" or worse. The majority doesn't agree with them and doesn't like racists calling them names.

Emile Pope

Yawn. The "race card" was first played 400+ years ago and is still being played today. That's why the players kneel. And accusing people opposing racism of being racist helps nothing. Maybe that's the idea...

Carol Dean

Nobody knows better then Emile, the King of Racism!

Mark Aaron

Carol: [ Nobody knows better then Emile, the King of Racism!]

That's not how you spell 'Carlos' Carol.

Carlos Ponce

Little Marky, that is not the way to win friends nor influence others. Again when you lose an argument you accuse someone of "racism". You are not a nice person.

Carol Dean

Li'l Mark, you are not even good a jokes. You reign supreme as the King of Racism, because for some reason, you always like to pull out that card; doesn't work anymore.

Mark Aaron

Carol: [ Nobody knows better then Emile, the King of Racism!]
Mark: "That's not how you spell 'Carlos' Carol."
Carlos: [ you accuse someone of "racism". You are not a nice person.]

If you had said that to Carol, who first said it, I might actually believe you Carlos.

Mark Aaron

Carol: [You reign supreme as the King of Racism, because for some reason, you always like to pull out that card; doesn't work anymore.]

You are the one who appears to be throwing the term around so merrily Carol. I thought a little joke might help you see it from the other side. Apparently not.

Carlos Ponce

Little Marky, BIG DIFFERENCE. You always cry Racist when you lose an argument.

Carlos Ponce

"I thought a little joke..." - Little Marky
Joking about racism Little Marky?

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [Little Marky, BIG DIFFERENCE. You always cry Racist when you lose an argument.]

I call racism and bigotry out whenever I see it Carlos. The fact that you are cited so often should tell you something.

Carlos Ponce

Little Marky, you don't know me. There are thousands of people who would disagree with your assessment.
Wanting border security does not make one a racist.
Wanting people properly vetted before entering this country does not make one a racist.
etc. etc. etc.
But apparently you deem anyone who disagrees with you a racist.
Pathetic.

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [ But apparently you deem anyone who disagrees with you a racist.
Pathetic.]

I disagree with people all the time and don't consider them racists. I save that appellation for those who earn it by action or word.

Let's discuss Carol calling Emile "the King of Racism!" Does your silence indicate you agree with her?

Jarvis Buckley

Sure wish Mark & Carlos could disagree without being so mean spirited. Even though I agree with Carlos 95 percent of the time I wish they could just stick to their point of view & not get so personal. It takes away from their credibility. In my opinion.......

Carlos Ponce

Jarvis, like President Trump I'm not a punching bag and will strike back. I'm a counter puncher. If you've noticed, I've tried to refrain but that shows weakness. Now Jim and Steve are on the attack against me as well. Trying to be civil in a street brawl that someone else starts is possible but difficult. Someone who calls a Hispanic "racist" clearly does not know what he's talking about. And it was posted as a reply to what someone else wrote, nothing I posted! It's tiring but someone is doing precisely that and without cause.

Mark Aaron

Jarvis: [Sure wish Mark & Carlos could disagree without being so mean spirited.]

I'm trying Jarvis. Carlos... can make it difficult some days. Thanks for the reminder. Don't give up on me.

P.S. Hope the treatment is still going well.

Carlos Ponce

I, Carlos make it difficult? Unbelievable!

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [I, Carlos make it difficult? Unbelievable!]

Reminds me of: "I am shocked—shocked—to find that gambling is going on in Casablanca!"

Carlos Ponce

I only respond in kind, Little Marky. You can dish it out but it's apparent you cannot take it. If you start it, I'll finish it.

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [ I only respond in kind, Little Marky. You can dish it out but it's apparent you cannot take it. ]

Remind us again where I constantly call you Carlosito.

Carlos Ponce

You don't call me that but in a response to Carol Dean you called me "racist".

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [You don't call me that but in a response to Carol Dean you called me "racist".]

It seemed funny at the time, factual, and instructive to Carol, who could stand to choose her words more carefully on this forum.

Regarding you being a racist: I can't think of anyone on the forum, other than drive-bys, who exhibit more racism than you, Carlos. We've discussed it in the past. You demonize and demagogue nearly everything having to do with minorities and immigrants. Your attacks on Black Lives Matters have been especially craven. Your blind defense of Confederate monuments puts you well over the line.

Carlos Ponce

Little Marky, as I posted before, you don't know me and THOUSANDS whom I do know would disagree with your assessment. And the reasons you post make us disagree but no sensible person would derive racism from my views. You may disagree with my views but calling me a racist is sheer lunacy.

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [ the reasons you post make us disagree but no sensible person would derive racism from my views. You may disagree with my views but calling me a racist is sheer lunacy.]

The GCDN forum is one of the most racist forums I have encountered on the internet and you generally lead the charge Carlos. I'd be happy not to call you a racist. Just stop being one online and I will. I don't cite your racism out of malice. I'm trying to help you be more aware of what you are championing.

Carlos Ponce

I'm not a racist online. If you want to disagree with the issues no problem That's one reason for this forum. But you attack the character of the person posting them. You listed "defense of the Confederate Monuments" for calling me "racist".
In the Letter to the Editor, "Confederate statue should stay" GCDN August 13, 2015
http://www.galvnews.com/opinion/letters_to_editor/article_25dc15ee-4163-11e5-a9ae-d77bb0802140.html
Judy Bernard wrote "In Galveston, the confederate monument 'Dignified Resignation' is just that: it admits to the confederacy being defeated as is symbolized by the broken sword. The flag over the statue’s shoulder is Naval Jack referencing the end of the confederate navy. A cannon lies dismantled. All these are symbols of resignation while the sailor, with dignity, looks outward to a new beginning." Do you call Judy racist?
"Paula Flinn Aug 13, 2015 2:46pm posts "I agree. It definitely should stay! [smile]"
Do you call Paula Flinn racist?
In his letter "Inscription on Confederate statue is the real issue"By Gerhard Meinecke,
http://www.galvnews.com/opinion/guest_columns/article_80b8fd0a-2ffd-11e5-8454-bf9337f463db.html
Gerhard responds on Aug 3, 2015 3:18pm "I did not advocate taking the statue down. It rightly honors the soldiers." Do you call Gerhard racist?
Paula Flinn responds "People need to be reasonable and consider that the South, through the Confederate Army, was defending its people, land, homes, & possessions. Who wouldn't have resisted General Sherman's march through Atlanta to the sea? He and his soldiers burned down homes and destroyed the South. History books only begin to tell the stories from the South during the Civil War." Again, does this defense of a Confederate statue make Paula racist?

Votes to keep the Statue 1095, remove the Statue 69
Are those 1095 people racist?

Mark Aaron

Carlos: [I'm not a racist online. If you want to disagree with the issues no problem That's one reason for this forum. But you attack the character of the person posting them. You listed "defense of the Confederate Monuments" for calling me "racist".]

I listed that as one of several things, your Confederate apologia was not definitive, but it is part of a larger pattern of vilifying minorities and immigrants at every opportunity.

Carlos Ponce

Calling people "racist" whenever you lose an argument speaks for itself. In your eyes everyone with whom you disagree must be "racist".[rolleyes]

Carol Dean

Li'l Mark, you are by far the most extreme racist on this conversation You always steer the discussion in that direction and you don't have to be white to be a racist. Like Carlos, I am NOT a racist and it is a darn shame that you feel the need to be one yourself.

Mark Aaron

Carol: [ Li'l Mark, you are by far the most extreme racist on this conversation . . . I am NOT a racist and it is a darn shame that you feel the need to be one yourself.]

You appear to be a member of the 'it-is-racist-to-cite-racism' school. Sorry, that isn't how it works.

Carol Dean

Take a big look in the mirror, L'il Mark!

Keep talking, Li'l Mark, you are the one who is looking like a "fool" to others. Keep talking! LOL! I'm "lovin'" it"!

Recite as A Night Before Christmas. And thanks to Randy Porter from YouTube for permission to post this.

"'Twas just before Christmas, and millions are paid, to players who knelt, while the anthem was played. Old glory flew proudly, it's red white and blue, while honoring veterans, who protect me and you. The Star-Spangled Banner has meaning you see, it honors our country, the land of the free. Fans show respect, with their hat in their hand, but the players don't care, they won't even stand. Then Veterans Day comes and they act like they care, with Marines on the field, and jets in the air. They gave soldiers jerseys and autographed gear, but show no respect, the rest of the year. The players want more, as you may have guessed, even with millions, they say they're oppressed. But fans are fed up, they know that it's wrong, to act like the anthem, is a meaningless song. So as Christmas draws near, let's all make a toast, to all of the things, that matter the most."
