The level of ignorance in letter is sad

The City Council in League City voted 6-2 on Tuesday night in support of a resolution that would prohibit city departments from cooperating with federal directives or requests to process or house undocumented immigrants.

As I read Don Ciaccio’s letter to the editor (“Illegal immigrants are a threat,” Daily News, July 9), his statement that the illegal immigrant children “are carrying lice, scabies and many other Third World diseases” made me think, “Oh, good! This is going to be a really great satirical letter.”

Sadly, it wasn’t.

I feel sad for Ciaccio that he perceives innocent children as a threat to “our national security.” His statement about 300,000 undocumented immigrants entering the U.S. since April appears to be baseless and his belief that President Barack Obama welcomes these children as new Democrats is laughable.

Is he aware that only U.S. citizens can vote?

The level of ignorance that ignited Ciaccio’s fear is very sad indeed.
