I was very disappointed with Republican candidate for state representative Bob Senter’s answer at The Daily News forum as to why he voted in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary election. He said he voted in that election on the advice of Rush Limbaugh.

Rush Limbaugh is an extremist far to the right of the mainstream in both political parties. It was on his bad advice that Ted Cruz, Randy Weber and others in Congress caused the recent shutdown of the federal government. That fiasco cost our economy $24 billion and embarrassed our nation.

Galveston County voters have always elected responsible leaders to represent them in the Texas Legislature. We need to continue that momentum and elect someone who can think for himself or herself. Someone with the ability to work effectively with both parties to get the job done for our community in the Texas Legislature.
