Congressman Randy Weber’s brochure claims he “Secured an extended red snapper season for our local recreational fishermen.” Whoa — smoke and mirrors! Where’s his honesty?
Here’s what really happened.
Louisiana Congressman Garrett Graves initiated a letter to Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross requesting the secretary to remedy the three-day red snapper fishing season. It was never our congressman’s initiative; he simply added his name in it.
But “why?” Congressman Weber has aggressively lobbied against recreational fishermen's interests to support his big campaign donors, commercial fish harvesters, accepting over $30,000 in their contributions.
The answer is simple: Fishermen have a “Friend of the Recreational Fishermen” running against Weber in the upcoming primary. Bill "Sarge" Sargent is recreational fishing’s advocate. He does his homework and makes honest decisions. He walks his talk, a wonderful difference from our current congressman!
I’ve observed “Sarge;” he is the “real deal.” He’s got my vote for Congressional District 14. Fishermen, he should have yours!
Early voting starts Feb. 20 and Election Day is March 6.
Let’s drain the swamp of these establishment-type, incumbent, “professional politicians” and put “real deal” folks into Congress to represent us.
