Daily News readers sound off about the May election.

Having spent six years on city council, I know what is required to fully execute the duties of being a representative of the residents of Galveston. It takes someone who can listen to all sides of an issue and filter though the emotions to get to the facts. He needs to determine what course of action is best for all of the citizens of Galveston, just not those in one district.

The primary responsibility of a council member is to make sure our residents are safe and secure. This is done by making sure we have a strong police and fire presence, along with having a functioning balanced budget. Council members are there to set policy, while the professional city manger manages the overall operations of the city. I know that David Hoover has the talent, experience and the ability to make sure the city is run in both an efficient and functioning manner.

I hope you will help me support Hoover in his race for District 4 and cast your vote for him.
