Daily News readers sound off about the May election.

After 16 years as county commissioner of Precinct 2, I still remember how well I was treated by my voters.

When I went into the office, I felt I would turn everything around in one year. I found out it would take a long time to accomplish everything I needed to do, such as working on Delaney Road, drainage, drainage and roads in Santa Fe, streets in Tiki Island, streets in Bayou Vista and help on the west end of Galveston.

I found out it takes a long time to get three votes to help you get done what you want to get done. I have stayed in contact with Commissioner Kevin O’Brien and feel he has done a darn good job.

What he needs is four more years to accomplish his projects. The candidates who ran for the same position were all good candidates. Let’s not have to start all over again. Let O’Brien have his four more years to finish his projects.

I am asking all my former supporters, voters and friends to support O’Brien for four more years. I can assure you, I feel he can do it.

You can bet that my heart is in Precinct 2 — I want the very best for my former precinct.

Please join me in voting for Commissioner O’Brien.
