The Daily News in June ran a story about my efforts to help raise money to increase Diversity Scholars attendance from 35 to 50, at the National Trust for Historic Preservation conference in Houston ("Preservationist hopes to increase National Trust diversity, presence," The Daily News, June 7).
Thanks to the Galveston's Park Board of Trustees and other donors, we have reached the fundraising goal to cover the registration fees for the additional attendees; however, travel, lodging and meals will not be covered.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 30 (scholarships are limited). Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll send the link to apply if you or anyone you know is interested.
The conference is set for Nov. 15-18. It will be a great opportunity to attend and network with other preservationist and historians. Even if you don't receive the scholarship I would encourage as many people as possible to register and attend the conference. Thanks again to the Galveston Parks Board and other donors.
