Wow, so from what your last statement says, you hate Christians and their beliefs.... There are religions who hate Christians and Jews and have no probable beheading them and yet you call out the religious right (Christians) ? I dare say your bias and bigotry is sure standing tall today.... With what you wrote, it would seem as if the people who believe in Jesus Christ should just sit down, shut up and or just plain go away.... Mighty freedom loving article that you wrote... Hope you NEVER get elected to a office in this nation as we have enough of you progressives in office as it is....

Come down off the cross. We can use the wood.

Carlos Ponce

The amendment is "Freedom of Religion" not freedom FROM religion. Some think that religion should be exercised freely only within the confines of a place of worship. But if they dare carry that freedom outside the church, temple or mosque doors .......[scared]
Jefferson wrote against "state religion". He was referring to Great Britain which established the Church of England as "state religion". Saying a prayer before a public meeting DOES NOT establish a state religion. A coach offering a prayer after a game DOES NOT establish state religion. A boy crossing himself after scoring in a game DOES NOT establish a state religion. As a teacher I know many students who prayed before a test. Nothing wrong with that since it DOES NOT establish a state religion.
Dan Freeman, I'll say a prayer for you.[beam]

The first amendment was added to the constitution to protect the state from religion and religion from the state. So far, not so good.

I think all the drugs in the 60's have caught up with Dan.

Diane Turski

Freedom of religion DOES mean freedom from having someone else's religion imposed on me. It does NOT mean that someone else has the freedom to impose their religious beliefs on others. The "religious right" continues to try to impose their religious beliefs on everyone else. On that simple basis I agree that the "religious right" should be opposed to prevent them from overreaching.

Doyle Beard

look around, the overreaching as you speak of is surely coming from the opposite side you are trying to portray

Kelly Naschke

The far right was quietly sitting back, minding their own business and staying out of politics until the far left decided to take Christ out of Christmas and decided it was ok to kill unborn babies and sell the body parts.

Carlos Ponce

I'll pray for you too, Diane Turski. May God Bless!
Question: Are you imposed upon when driving on Broadway and encounter the "Ten Commandments" monument? It's of Jewish origin, remember with Hebrew characters. As a Christian I have no problem with a monument written in Hebrew and English. Do you?
A similar monument has met the Constitutional challenge. It sits on the Capital grounds in Austin Texas. (Van Orden vs. Perry 2005)
How about all the religious monuments in Washington DC on US Government buildings including the Supreme Court Building?
Are you upset when Congress begins each session with a prayer? The current House chaplain is Catholic, Patrick J. Conroy. Rear Admiral Barry C. Black (Seventh Day Adventist) serves as Senate Chaplain. And each is paid by tax dollars

While what you say is true, then why does the left demand that everyone else take on their perverted view of what is right.... BTW, where do you think that the laws of our nation came from if their are no morals? After all why should we have morals if we are not to have religion? Do you happen to know where morals came from and if is wasn't from religion then where? If there are no absolute morals in life then why is murder Ok when the left loves to brag about being able to sacrifice the innocent upon the altar of convenience that you all call "Choice".... Why is it Ok to murder the innocent and yet you all want to give the guilty a free pass????

PD Hyatt

One hopes that people remember that Judge Cox hates Christians and what they stand for when we go to the polls in a few weeks....

Brenda Bock

Then why does he volunteer at Sunday School if he hates Christians?

Doyle Beard

Who know? We are aware there are many who portray something they are not. Remember the Enron officials who tried to portray themselves as great humantarins yet we know what they were doing. Many sheep in wolves clothing nowadays. I know nothing about Cox and his church. there are manys things that seem one way but then shows up different. Be aware.

Carol Dean

Show us where you get your information for your false accusation. Maybe you might want to make an appointment to talk to Judge Cox and find out the truth directly from him. Your statement could not be further from the TRUTH. I will Join Carlos in praying for all of you.

Doyle Beard

I have not accused MR Cox of anything.I did not even accuse him of lying when he said he paid for his own defense out of his pocket. My post was about the kind of people in this world after a poster mentioned volunteering at church. my response was don't know. The post was about the kind of people in the world and they can make up their own mind. I never said Cox was one of these people.

Carol Dean

Mr. Hyatt, here are your very own words as printed in the GCDN!

Carol Dean

Think you are the one who clearly posted this comment!

Carol Dean

Mr. Beard, I'm going to ask you what you know about Mark Henry's personal life; many would consider it "not a pretty picture".

Doyle Beard

As I have written I am not a Mark Henry Person or haven't you seen my post.

Carol Dean

Thank you, Lefty!
