Ask yourself..."What has Mark Henry done for you?" Ask yourself..."Who needs a job?" Clearly Henry has none very little to advance the needs of Galveston voters. Henry also does not have a "real job" to fall back on to earn enough money to support his rising personal expenditures.

Well, the county seems to be running just fine with Mr. Henry in charge. I have heard no complaints from anyone concerning county services. Mr. Henry was very visible and out front during Harvey, although, there were a few hiccups in debris removal, overall I would say he did a good job. I suppose Judge Cox is a decent person and a fine judge, but he did cost the county many dollars in legal fees as has been reported in the media and his run for office seems more like a vendetta against Henry than an aspiration to be county judge. Haven't heard one peep on how he would run day to day things differently. For the most part, my information is based on what I hear in the media and around the county with no inside information. Just my opinion.

Carol Dean

No, it was Mark Henry who cost the county millions of dollars. He insisted on hiring legal services outside the ones who are employed and paid by our tax payers. Suggestion: Contact Judge Lonnie Cox and ask him any questions you want answered.

Ok so you say it was Judge Henry that cost the county to so much money. Now ask yourself who won at the Texas Supreme Court level and who lost.... That is who cost We The taxpayer all of the money that Cox spent....As for the money spent, I do believe that should tell us ALL that we need to know Don't you think?

Carol Dean

Totally disagree with your rationalization. Henry had several attorneys who are already receiving a salary that you are paying for. He sought legal help outside of the Galveston County System. Judge Cox hired help outside the system as well, Difference...Judge Cox paid for his own legal services.

Doyle Beard

yes like I paid my expenses personally.

Please recount Mark Henry's accomplishments, other than a questionable redesign of the county website, lowering the tax rate by what was set up as a reserve for the UTMB blackmail 10 yrs ago and setting up 5 offices for himself, incl. one on his boat. And please tell me that intentionally essentially abandoning incorporated areas, not having had annual disaster drills, not having had a Disaster Evacuation Plan, not showing up in the Emergency Center until the day after Harvey hit first are not underperformances.

This issue keeps hanging around and. in my opinion, is more fluid than ever. Originally Judge Cox filed the case as the Administrative Judge as the representative of all, or the majority, of the District Judges. The case was filed against the Galveston County Commissioner's Court. After rambling thru the lower courts for a while a part of it ended up in the Texas Supreme Court where they ruled in favor of the Commissioner's Court. After that, Judge Cox dismissed issues of the case that remained in the local court. After the Enos article came out, Judge Cox said he had filed this case personally and that he had used his own personal lawyer. Now that the case is over, hopefully, what we are hearing is "yes, we lost the case, but the other side spent too much money winning it". It's over, put it to rest.

Carol Dean

Thank you for mentioning "a part of it" ended up in The Texas Supreme Court, but it is also true that prior to that all seated judge who heard the case ruled AGAINST Henry.

An 8 paragraph post with heading about issues and not really an issue mentioned in only one paragraph, with only goals and accomplishments mentioned as issue. Not a Mark Henry person and surely not a Cox person either, it's scary to have to vote for this office. That's the way I see it.

Carol Dean

Not voting is clearly an option, but then you don't get to complain afterwards, regardless!

Doyle Beard

You jut plain missed the point as usual.

Carol Dean

No, Mr. Beard, you have complained about both candidates. Holding your nose and voting is not necessarily a wise decision.

Doyle Beard

Mr Cox wrote an 8 paragraph pretending to be concerned about issues but had very little substance so to me that shows true colors like the other candidate.

Carol Dean

Why don't you take the time and initiative to make an appointment and visit with Judge Cox!?!

Ken Hufstetler

Judge Henry has one of he most difficult jobs of all elected officials in Galveston County. From daylight till half the night he is dealing with issues from one end of the county to the other. It makes no sense to me why Judge Cox would want to swap his position on the bench to step into the chaotic job of County Judge. Judge Henry has done a good job and I prefer to stay with someone who has demonstrated that he can handle this very difficult job for the citizens than go with an unknown. There is no comparison between the bench and the seat of the County Judge. The fact that we don't have anI Ike dike and other projects have not been accomplished cannot be blamed on Henry or the commissioners. They have been doing all they possibly can to move this county forward in all areas.

Carol Dean

It is all in the eye of the beholder Ken. When was your last eye checkup?

You are correct Carol, just like you, my sight is a little clouded. I tend to interpret the events of today in terms of my yesterdays. If you have magical glasses, please share so that I can always know the truth of the facts.

Carol Dean

Gerhardt, some people can't handle the truth and I don't mean you.
