Everyone usually cheers when traffic lights come down.
But in Texas City, where three lights are coming down, there are two cheers and some concerned looks.
The cheers are for two traffic lights on FM 1765, at Ninth and Seventh streets.
They’re expected to come down Sept. 29. The evidence suggests they’re just not needed. No one seems to disagree.
But at least some people are concerned about the plan to remove the traffic light on Palmer Highway between 15th and 21st streets, near Moore Memorial Public Library.
The idea was that the light is no longer needed, since the high school has been moved to same side of the street as the public library and the athletic fields.
They’re all on the south side of the highway now.
The problem is the new middle school is on the north side of Palmer Highway.
It would be nice to hear one more reassurance that this really is the right thing to do before the light comes down Sept. 15.
