In a recent guest column, Paul Tibaldo, president of the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo, pointed out that a little nostalgia is good for us.
He’s right, of course.
And that’s a good reason to drop in on the County Fair and Rodeo, which opens today at Jack Brooks Park on state Highway 6 in Hitchcock.
The gates open at 4 p.m. The carnival rides start at 5 p.m.
If you go, you’ll see rides and games that will thrill the kids. You’ll smell food that will bring back childhood memories — and that your doctor doesn’t necessarily need to know about.
Those who grew up around a farm will want to see livestock. Those who did not might prefer the displays of Texas wines.
The music starts at 8:30 p.m. Cody Johnson, a singer from East Texas, will put on a show around 10:30 p.m.
The fair runs through April 12. Make it a point to drop in.
