I pick up trash in my yard every day—beer and liquor bottles, soda cans, dirty baby diapers, and fast-food packaging. This kind of thing has been going on as long as I can remember, which is 50-some years.
The police are just a little too busy with drunk drivers and dope dealers to bother with people who litter, even it they happen to observe the offense.
The Daily News, as a long-standing matter of editorial policy, wants the city to cut expenses—especially for public employees.
So who is supposed to pick up this trash or staff the recycling center seven days a week? Elves? The dwarfs from Snow White?
A good way to start is with the residents picking up their own trash!
Yes, the City must need by example. Not only is the fire station a terrible sight, but the city property on Market, where service vehicles are kept, could use a mowing. They should also use Round-up 365 to get the grass and weeds off the curbs and street.Seems like most City workers wear blinders when they drive the streets. Can't take more than 30 seconds to post a notice over code violations.Love my house, tired of living in the midst of a dump!!!
One great example of the city failing to lead by example is the state of disrepair and dangerous condition the City has let the historic fire station building at 2828 Marke fall into.
. Not only is this City owned landmarked structure violating many building codes, it is also a dangerous building and has been for years.
