Here’s a reminder: We have two days left of early voting.
If you live in Friendswood and Tiki Island, there are worthy bond proposals to support. If you live on the Bolivar Peninsula, funding for emergency services is in your hands.
And for all of us, there are nine proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.
We know turnout is sure to be low countywide. But there are a couple of good reasons to buck the trend.
Voting for Proposition 6 at least gets Texas started toward a plan for addressing a water crisis. Proposition 3 would help companies working in the aviation and aerospace industry. In our area, a vote for Proposition 3 is sheer self-interest.
There also are a couple of duds: We’d recommend shooting down Propositions 5, which would relax rules on reverse mortgages, and 7, which would allow some cities to fill vacancies on council by appointment, rather than by election.
If you’d like the full arguments, they’re at galvnews.com.
This is just a reminder that it’s important to vote and that the most convenient way to get the job done is to get to the polls early.
