The Life and Legacy of Deacon Samuel C. Boyd, Sr. will be celebrated on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Highway 6 in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will begin at 8:00 am followed by services at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock with Military and Prince Hall Masonic Rites. Arrangements are entrusted to Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary of Galveston.
The Patriarch of his family, Deacon Boyd was born April 3, 1934 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana and answered his call to eternal rest on January 6, 2018. He was a well-respected citizen of Hitchcock; a mentor to young men and women, a devoted member and Deacon of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Galveston; member of Amity Lodge #4 F&AM (PHA), a 33rd Degree Mason and a member, Past Potentate and Deputy of the Oasis of El Katif Temple #85 of the Mystic Shrine. He also loved his horses, motorcycles and most of all his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and son, Keith Boyd, Left to celebrate his legacy are his devoted wife of 58 years, Dorothy Boyd; his children, Samuel C. “Chuck” Boyd, Jr. (Anntoinette), Kelvin “K-Bee” Boyd, Sr. (Yvette) and Keesh’a Boyd (Derek Rhem); six grandchildren, Kelscia, Samone, Sydnie, Kelvin Jr. “K.J.”, Gabrelle “Gabby” and Samuel C., III “Lil Chuck”/”Tre’”; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family members, extended family and friends.
