GALVESTON — Juan Pedro Navarro, Sr. of Galveston passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, January 31, 2013 at New Life Fellowship, 6328 Heards Lane in Galveston, Reverend David Gomez officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the church from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday. 

Born August 3, 1953 in San Cristobal, Guatemala to Aureleano Tax and Izabel Navarro, Juan was the owner of Panaderia Navarro Bakery 3801 Broadway in Galveston. He was a family man who provided a good and loving home for his family. He was hard working and believed anyone could make it with hard work and a little help from God. Mr. Navarro was a Christian and active member of New Life Fellowship Church in Galveston. He will be missed by his loving family, employees and extended church family.

Preceded in death by his parents and several siblings, survivors include his wife of 36 years, Zoila Navarro; daughters, Susana Landers and husband Bobby of Galveston, Mayra S. Stauter and Matthew Stauter of Texas City and Angelica and Spicer Flournoy of Humble; son, Juan P. Navarro, Jr. of Guatemala; brothers, Francisco Navarro of Guatemala and Feliciano Tax and wife Rosario Garcia of Houston; 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Mike Castoreno, Andrew Landers, Marcus Landers, Matthew Stauter, Pablo Lopez, Natalie Sin and Spicer Flournoy.
