Muta Lynn Holland Melton

Muta Lynn Holland Melton, 48, of Santa Fe received her reward of eternal rest July 18, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born May 31, 1967 to Sheila Holland Cram and Jack Patrick Holland. She attended Galveston schools and graduated from Ball High School. After graduation, Muta Lynn worked in the field of social services for many years. Later, she spent several years working at the Galveston County Courthouse.

Muta Lynn is preceded in death by her father, Jack P. Holland, and a brother, Jack P. Holland, Jr. Also preceding her in death are her grandparents Muta and CW Van Dyke, Gus and Harriet Holland, and Geraldine Cram. Survivors include her mother Sheila Cram and step-father Louis, daughter Roseanna McLaren and husband Tommy, son John Russell Shepeard and his father, her long time partner, Phillip Shepeard. She is also survived by her sister Dawn Holland and husband Ben, nephew Stephen Salinas, step-sister Kim Walker and husband Dyron, aunts, Marilyn Glaskox, Mary Lee Lenertz, “Aunt Nunu” Susan Spurlock and uncle Foster Spurlock, many cousins and her beloved pet Princess.

Muta was a devoted grandmother to her “grandbabies” Caleb, Lilly, James, Murphy, Aiden, and her neice Daisy, whom she considered a grandbaby.

Many thanks to the St. Luke’s doctors, nurses, and staff for all they did during Muta’s illness and special thanks to Dr. Deborah Meyers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HIS Ministries: 4205 Jackson St, Santa Fe, TX 77517. Muta Lynn loved gardening. Please plant a flower or tree in your yard in her memory. Family and friends will celebrate her life together at Golden Corral in Galveston on August 1st at noon.
