Melvin Devon White was born on May 9, 1954 in Galveston, Texas to Darlene White and Sammie Lee White, Sr.

Melvin, lovingly known by family and friends as “Jerry or Slick”, graduated from La Marque High School in 1973. Upon graduation, he attended College of Mainland and U of H-Central Campus pursuing a degree in Business Administration .

He accepted a position at Levitz’s Furniture Store where he earned the title of “Million Dollar Sales Producer” Upon Levitz’s closure, he continued to earn the title of “Million Dollar Sales Producer” at Finger’s/Ashley’s Furniture Store located in Pasadena.

Leaves to cherish his memories are his wife, Sharon R. White; devoted son and best friend, Kodi Mason White, (Melissa); five grandchildren; Father and Mother, Sammie L. White Sr. and Darlene White; siblings, Rev. Rayford Butler (Yvonne), Sammie L. White Jr. (Rosie); Amy J. Wilson (Mark) and Lisa Artie Banks (Ladell); uncles, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Hopewell Baptist Church, 316 Pine Rd. in Texas City with visitation at 10:00 AM followed by services at 11:00 AM. Burial following at Houston Memorial Gardens.
