Cynthia Jane Sanford, 82, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away May 17, 2017, in Santa Fe, Texas. Cynthia was born May 22, 1934, to Donna and Gordon Hale, in Los Angeles, California. Her father was the head of the Humane Society in El Paso and passed his love on animals to Cynthia. This love of animals led her to competing on the German Olympic Team in horse jumping. Cynthia was an intelligence officer for the Army/Navy for many years. She also followed in her mother’s footsteps becoming a police officer, as would her daughter and granddaughter, having four generations of female police officers in the family. Her son Robert also retired from Law Enforcement. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter Paula Welch and husband Allen; son Robert Hale Holland and wife Sonia; grandchildren Race Holland, Matthew Holland and wife Amaris Lynn, Jessica Knoles and husband Charles, and Jamie Ashworth and fiancé Russell Carr; great-grandchildren Race Holland Jr., and Isabella Holland.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Corpus Christi, Texas.
