Annie Lee Wilson Rogers, 91, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018.

She was born in the High Prairie Community of Madison County, Texas, on December 18, 1926, to N. B. and Elsie Land Wilson. Ann, as she was affectionately known, grew up with her sisters on the family farm outside of Madisonville, Texas, and over the years many fond memories were shared of gathering hen eggs, making sorghum syrup for her mother’s famous biscuits and various adventures with her father.

On August 18, 1943, Ann married Owen Samuel Rogers, Jr. in Houston, Texas. Following the end of World War II, Ann and Owen moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where their two sons, Dwight and Bruce, were born. In 1960, the family made Dickinson, Texas, their home and opened Rogers Malt Shoppe. Many customers from Dickinson and the surrounding area enjoyed hamburgers, ice cream, and hospitality during the 34 years that Ann and Owen owned and operated the Malt Shoppe. In 1994, the restaurant was sold and retirement allowed Ann to devote herself to researching and documenting the family genealogy, which led to her active participation in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She qualified as a member of the following hereditary societies: National Society of Magna Charta Dames, Colonial Society of Americans of Royal Descent, Knights of the Most Nobel Order of the Garter, Colonial Order of the Crown, and Colonial Dames XVII Century. A member of First United Methodist Church in Dickinson, Ann served on numerous church committees.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Owen, and her son, Dwight.

Survivors include son Bruce Rogers and wife Elizabeth, daughter-in-law Carol Rogers, sisters Nina Lou McCaig and Imogene Gustavis, and sister-in-law Elaine Mantooth Fleming. Additional survivors include her grandchildren Louisa and Marcus Brooks, Susan and David Rogers, Amanda and Stephen Rogers, Wilson Rogers, Emily and John Rogers, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Ganado Cemetery in Ganado, Texas.

Pallbearers will be David Rogers, Stephen Rogers, Wilson Rogers, John Rogers, Marc Brooks, and Owen Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers are Louisa Brooks, Beth Ann Brooks, and Natalie Rogers.

If desired, memorials may be made to The Building Fund, First United Methodist Church, 200 FM 517 Rd. W, Dickinson, Texas 77953.
