GALVESTON—Robert Emmett Kelley, Jr., age 76, of formerly of Hitchcock died Thursday March 1, 2018 at his son in law and daughter’s residence in Dobbin, Texas.

Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston.

Robert was born April 21, 1941 in Galveston to Robert Emmett Kelley, Sr. and Alma Mae Jewell Kelley. He was employed with the Falstaff Brewing Co in Galveston for 13 years before becoming a member and employee with the ILA Local 20 in Galveston, where he was a Gearman for several different Stevedore Companies for over 27 years. He was affiliated with the College View Baptist Church in Texas City. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and painting cars. He also enjoyed raising goats and cows on his ranch in Dobbin, Texas, land that has been in his family for nearly 200 years. Once he retired he enjoyed gardening, doing home improvements, traveling to the Casinos in Louisiana occasionally with friends and going out to eat. The loves of his life were his grandchildren who brought him great joy.
