Pookie James, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Fe, Texas, on March 4, 2018. He worked as a journeyman pipefitter out of the Texas City Local 211.
A lifelong resident of Galveston County, Pookie is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Suzanne, sons Darren James and Richard James, daughters Rhonda James, Amber Prior and Amy Ash, brother Gary James, and sister Kathleen Thibodeaux. In addition, he had 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents David D. and Alta Mae James. He will be missed by his extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews along with pets, Slinky and Prince Hairy as well.
Pookie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends, including hunting buddy Juan Rodriguez and fishing buddy Robert Herod.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Jason James, Zachary Wilson, Ethan Ash, David Treece, Dakota Brown, and Mason James.
A memorial service will be held at the Family Worship Center, 13601 FM 1764, Santa Fe, TX 77510, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
