John David Yanasak passed away October 8, 2017, in Dickinson, Texas. He was born July 25, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to Leo and Margaret Yanasak.

John is survived by his wife Alice, son Ivan and wife Nancy and their daughter Nadia of Littleton, Colorado; Dr. Nathan and wife Dr. Wendy Yanasak of Crawfordville, Georgia; sister Margaret Ann and husband Gary Moncrief of Hurst, Texas, nephews David and Michael Moraine and their families plus the large Yanasak clan all over the U.S.

John graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa with a Chemical Engineer Degree. He worked at Amoco refinery in Texas City, and was transferred to Amoco /BP Chemicals in Chocolate Bayou. Was in the Demolays as a young man, did volunteer for Habitat For Humanity, Senior Warden for Holy Trinity Episcopal church in Dickinson, Strawberry Festival co chairman, Cub Scout volunteer with wife Alice.

Wishes by John in years passed was to have his body donated to UTMB to help others.

Contributions instead of flowers may be donated to Holy Trinity Episcopal church in Dickinson, Texas, Habitat of Humanity or own choice. Many thanks to the ICU unit of Clear Lake Regional hospital, all the nurses and doctors there, Dr. Brian Aquino and cousin Janis Chapman of Midland, Texas.

A celebration of life will be planned and held in the near future.
