Margarita Sifuentes

“Strength and honor are her clothing. She looketh well to the ways of her household. Her children arise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:25-28

Margarita Sifuentes was called home to her Heavenly Father on September 20, 2016.

Born on October 17, 1925 in Pharr, TX. to Mauro & Altagracia Pineda Sosa, Margarita devoted her life to her family, church, and helping others. A loving mother of nine children, Margarita loved her life in Galveston where she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, volunteered at Our Daily Bread, and worked 25 years at the UTMB Library. After retiring, she moved to Austin, TX.

Margarita was a talented seamstress, and crocheted blankets that are cherished works of art and keepsakes for each of her children and grandchildren. She made over 100 blankets for grandchildren, friends, and church members. Holidays were a special time in Grandma Sifuentes’ kitchen, where she lovingly shared the tradition of making homemade tamales for family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting bells from places she or friends traveled.

Margarita is survived by her children; Cesar and wife Irma, Israel and wife Patricia, Noah and wife Jaime, Rachel, Elisabeth and husband Roger, Peter and wife Susan, Oscar and wife Asmaa, Mauro; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Margarita is preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Sifuentes Craft, and sister, Manuela Varela.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, September 24, 2016, with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 5201 Convict Hill in Austin, Texas. Entombment will immediately follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
