Gene Lee Stacy, of Texas City, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving and adoring family, on Tuesday, August 9th, 2017, at the age of 100 plus 8months old.
Gene was born December 3rd 1916 in Houston, Texas to Jean Clayton and Leila Lollar Stacy. He spent his life growing up and working in Houston, except for his train trips to Madisonville, Texas where he spent many summers with his cousin, Ray Redding, on the Keechi Creek fishing and hunting and having fun in the countryside. He never lost his love for the outdoors, especially; he was a gifted gardener that was known for his green thumb and abundant harvests.
On April 27th of 1941, he married Nina Irene Casey. Soon after, in Sept of 42, Gene Joined the Army Air Force where he was a Staff Sargent until his honorable discharge on November 21, 1945 and he was able to attend Rice University and received a degree in Chemical Engineering and spent many years working for the Monsanto Chemical Plant in Texas City. By now, Gene and Nina were on their journey together of raising a family of six children.
Even after, retiring, Gene kept up with the times by continuing using computers to enhance his bookkeeping skills. He loved to read, work crossword puzzles and play games. He got much joy from his grandchildren. Gene also was a scientist that used his reasoning to deduce that we indeed have a loving awesome God, and looked forward to “walking” with and talking with him in heaven, and looked forward to seeing his Nina and Tommy and Mary and all his loved ones in heaven. Our beloved Daddy~Grandfather~Greatgrandfather died in such peace!
Gene was preceded in death by his darlings Nina Irene, Thomas Edward, Mary Ann, His mamma, and many other family members and friends he out lived!
Dear Gene is survived by Jane Ellen Stacy, his daughter (and care taker) and her daughters Emily Irene Abrams, and Clare Elizabeth Abrams, and great-grandson, Gabriel Lee David Abrams. He is also survived by Robert and Ryland Stacy, Nancy Sharp and her sons Patrick and Kevin, Michael and Diane Stacy and their son Jeffery and daughter Patricia, and Mary Ann’s son Ryan Cullen.
