Guadalupe (Lupe) Sendejas passed away peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, February 3 at her home in Galveston surrounded by her family.

Lupe was born in Gulf, Texas on June 19, 1926. She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Sendejas, sons, Jesse, Richard and Tony. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Samudio and son Rudy Sendejas. Grand-daughters, Stephanie Sendejas, Melissa Sendejas, Valerie Samudio and numerous great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Max Sendejas and sisters-in-law, Olivia Mata, Margie Sendejas and Ophelia Sendejas.

Lupe was a devoted and loyal wife to Antonio for over 70 years. Lupe took care of her family tirelessly and generously always being there and never saying No to their needs. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ellie Pacheco for the care of Lupe during her battle with Alzheimer. Also thanks to Lupe’s protectors, ‘D’ and ‘Lil’, the grand-dogs that watched over her.

Visitation will start at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont St., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galveston, TX 77550. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas with a reception following at St Patrick’s Parish Hall, 1010 — 35th St. in Galveston, TX.

Pallbearers will be Elias Samudio, Michael Samudio, Joseph Sendejas, Marty Sendejas, Walter Sendejas and Paul Mata. Honorary pallbearers are Otto Longoria and Guy Mata.
