TEXAS CITY — One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in Texas City on Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the College of the Mainland parking lot where he was loaded on to a Life Flight helicopter and transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch, said Texas City Fire Department Capt. Steve Strickhausen.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on the expressway near Century Boulevard, he said.

Strickhausen said he did not know the age or name of the injured driver or the extent of the driver’s injuries.
