BOLIVAR — U.S. Coast Guard crews Thursday rescued the captain of a disabled sailboat after he’d been in the water for more than 20 minutes the Coast Guard said in a statement.

The captain of the vessel Under Siege went into the water to check on a fouled rudder and the sailboat drifted away. Another person aboard called for help and the Coast Guard sent a helicopter and rescue boats to the scene where they took the captain back to his boat and called a towing vessel.

The Coast Guard stayed with the sailboat until the tow vessel arrived.
