TEXAS CITY — Officers early Wednesday arrested two men accused of robbing a Texas City convenience store at gunpoint, according to a news release from the police department.

Police began investigating a robbery at a convenience store in the 2000 block of Texas Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m., when two men held a clerk at gunpoint and left with about $200 in cash, according to the news release.

Officers found two men matching descriptions given by the clerk at another convenience store in the 3100 block of First Avenue South, and arrested the suspected robbers without incident, police said.

Dynell Robert Allen, 19, and Jermel Cherrod Lewis, 19, were charged with aggravated robbery. 

Allen was being held at the Galveston County Jail on a $40,000 bond. Lewis was being held on a $20,000 bond.
