CRYSTAL BEACH — Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies issued more than 126 citations and made more than 40 arrests on the Bolivar Peninsula during a busy Memorial Day weekend.

There were no major accidents and no fatalities on the peninsula from Saturday through Monday, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.

Deputies issued citations and made arrests on charges ranging from public intoxication to minor in possession of alcohol.

The sheriff’s office will increase patrols on the peninsula and near the Galveston-Bolivar Ferry throughout the summer to handle traffic and to ensure visitors remain safe, Trochesset said.
