TEXAS CITY — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people on a raft after rip currents pushed them out into the waters off the Texas City Dike on Saturday night.

According to Coast Guard officials, a cruise ship passing by the Texas City Dike around 8 p.m. spotted a small raft with three people who appeared to be lost and reported the craft to authorities.

A Coast Guard helicopter located the raft, which was carrying an adult and two children. The Coast Guard then used its small boats to reach the raft and return the three people to safety.

Coast Guard officials said no one was injured.
