GALVESTON — Police on Monday night arrested a 49-year-old island resident accused of breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s home before fleeing to his residence in the same apartment complex, authorities said.

Joe Fondren Duren was charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault and is being held in the Galveston County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Duren broke in to the woman’s home through a window in the 2100 block of Avenue P late Monday, and then ran to his own apartment in the same complex, police Lt. Michael Gray said.

Duren was arrested at his apartment shortly after 10 p.m., Gray said.
