DICKINSON — A jury Thursday found a Dickinson man guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a May 2013 stabbing.

Frederick Lloyd Simmons, 65, pleaded not guilty, and defense attorneys argued the stabbing was in self-defense.

A jury found Simmons guilty after a three-day trial.

Simmons was previously convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2011 in Harris County, according to court records.

Judge Bret Griffin of the 212th District Court will decide Simmons’ sentence.
