HITCHCOCK — A woman was being held Sunday charged with intoxicated manslaughter following an automobile-pedestrian collision that left one person dead in Hitchcock.
Cordova Leann Sowells, 49, of La Marque was charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle. She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
The fatal collision occurred Saturday evening near the intersection of FM 2004 and Highway 6 in Hitchcock and left one person dead on the side of the road, police said.
Sowells was arrested within hours of the collision, which occurred shortly before 7 p.m., police said.
Police were continuing to investigate what led to the collision Sunday.
Authorities were withholding the name of the person struck and killed by the vehicle pending notification of next of kin.
More information was not immediately available.
Messages left at the police department and with Hitchcock Police Chief Clay Kennelly were not returned.
